Cycling tips: 5 MUST-HAVE Bike Accessories

Are you new to cycling and curious about all the necessary gear you should buy? There are some essential accessories you should bring on every bike ride, and Timewalker will tell you what those are.

1. Helmet

Wearing a helmet when riding a bike is one of the most important rules to follow. When you decide to cycle without a helmet, keep in mind that helmets are designed to accomplish these things: protect you against head injuries, especially possibly deadly ones; eye protection;…

2. Flat Kit

Riding sometimes involves dealing with flat tires, but not everyone is capable of handling this issue. With the right gear and a little knowledge, you’ll never get stranded because of a puncture. Your flat kit should contain a spare tube, a way to inflate it (CO2 cartridges and an inflator or mini-pump), a multi-tool, tire levers, and patches.

3. Warm clothes

It depends on the season and where you live what you bring for extra clothes. Pack some backup gear, such as arm warmers, gloves, a vest, or a rain jacket, if there’s a potential of cooler weather or rain on your ride. Check the weather before you ride, map out your route carefully, and keep your body from becoming too wet or cold on the bike path.

4. Water and snack

Running out of energy when cycling is never enjoyable since hunger significantly reduces your capacity for management and concentration. You should bring a couple of bars, snacks, and candies on your ride. And of course, don’t forget to bring water to keep hydrated. For every hour of riding, you should drink at least one full water bottle, and you may need more depending on the conditions, your level of exertion, and your body’s demands.

5. Cell phone, cash, credit card, and ID

Consider that this is your little emergency package. These bike accessories are what you will most likely require in the worst-case situation. Always keep your ID, a phone, and a small amount of cash with you. Just before you go cycling, make sure your phone is completely charged.

Happy riding.
